Photos Degrade – Sometimes You Need an Artist
I had an art teacher in 7th grade tell me that without a perfect circle, no amount of shading will make it look like a sphere. The same is true with photo editing. You need to have enough raw materials in order to make a good photo alteration. Each photo will have to be evaluated to see if it can be fixed.
Simple Color, Light Level and Scratch Removal
since film and photo paper color slides inevitably shift color and scratch over time, most scanned images require some basic correction. The basic color and light level adjustment is included as part of the standard scanning.
Below is a good example of the simple edits that can be done in a matter of minutes. scroll down for example of more complex photo edits.

Photo Alteration Example – “Bye Bye, Bridesmaid”
The mark of a good Photoshop artist is that you can’t event tell there was a change to the photo at all. Each photo will have to be evaluated to see if alteration is possible. Below is a good example of removing someone from a photo.

Photo Alteration Example – “Putting the Pieces Together”
In this example, the photo was so brittle that it had literally fallen to pieces. I was able to scan each piece and put them to together so that the final product looks seamless.

Photo Alteration Example – “Faded to Focus”
